The famous American writer Drake Kataroyan was banned from Sparrow’s — the best coffee shop in Bel Air — after getting into an embarrassing fight with a girl there. The problem is that Drake has a superstition about that place: it’s where he gets his best ideas. Now, to get his right to go to Sparrow’s back, he offers to help Riley, the coffee shop manager, win Jimmy back, his ex-boyfriend.
That ends up inspiring Drake to write about everyday realism, aiming to disrupt his own career — since he’s known for his period romance novels — to stay true to his life philosophy: the freedom to be who we are and to love freely.
This simple decision to help Riley brings to light aspects of reality for practically everyone around Drake, including Maro, his best friend, Norma his housekeeper, Paul, his younger brother, and Telma, his sister-in-law.
